I've been living at the Birkhill Apartments for two and a half years and I'm getting increasingly frustrated with this property. In the first year, the fire alarms would go off constantly, with an additional alarm in the lobby area sounding nonstop for hours or even days. Someone attempted to break open its casing to turn it off but just managed to dent its frame without success. Although that issue was eventually solved, now some of the stairwells are locked from within so you can't use them unless you reach ground level first. Additionally, when a car crashed into an electrical box near the office recently and caused a power outage, I noticed those same stairwells had no emergency lighting - which is apparently illegal. There have also been cases of dog feces and human feces in there that took weeks to be cleared away. Transients have also been known to sleep in hallways occasionally too. Furthermore, inspections occur often yet dates listed on notices often change without warning; maintenance has even entered my unit unannounced before without giving any explanation as to why either! Then they stopped including TV services in rent payments but still charged me for them over the last couple months despite promising not too - plus they didn't adjust my bill after I paid more than necessary last month either! Lastly, their office staff seem to rotate frequently which is never reassuring; complaints about faulty gym equipment or TVs have gone unresolved by previous managers so I don't expect current staff will fare any better either. more ... hide ...

I had some things go missing from my apartment, so I purchased a camera. The next day, I caught the maintenance man in my apartment without any work order. When I called the office to enquire, they said it was an emergency and that they needed to change a light bulb on the microwave. However, there wasn't even one out yet. Two days later, that exact lightbulb suddenly went out and when I contacted them again they claimed my appliance must be faulty. That was over a year ago but after replacing the bulb everything is still functioning properly. Moreover, I also bought a portable alarm which has been set off four times; one of these times police were called and entered my apartment without permission! I arrived in April and I'm enjoying it a lot; however, due to Covid-19, I haven't gone to the pool yet. The other residents are friendly and the staff is great--always willing to help out. There isn't much noise and everything is clean, but some people don't know how to use the garbage shoot which results in their trash being thrown into the parking garage where it gets gross. Maintenance does an awesome job cleaning up after them though. All in all, this place is one of the best places to live; highly recommend it! more ... hide ...
