I presently reside at Derstine Run Two since August of 2014 and I am publicly writing to correct a couple of misguided facts that was written by another reviewer Firstly it is a retirement community with the minimum age being 62 not 55 to reside herI presently reside at Derstine Run Two since August of 2014 and I am publicly writing to correct a couple of misguided facts that was written by another reviewer Firstly it is a retirement community with the minimum age being 62 not 55 to reside here Secondly Derstine 1 is a two story dwelling and Derstine 2 is a three story dwelling with a basement and each apartment has a storage cage Both buildings has a library with Derstine 1 library being more of the conventional type whereas Derstine 2 has an open space surrounding with a piano in the background and two game tables with chairs to accommodate playing card or board games That is all situated on the second floor and on the other side of the room there is a regulation pool table with a rack containing pool sticks The separation between those two goodies is an enclosed stairway When the elevator opens you have an instant view of both As you enter the building on the first floor you can look up and see our beautiful cathedral ceiling We have a sitting area on the first floor to enjoy with a fireplace Theres a Community Room where we congregate for game night movie night and various affairs we have during the year There is an association with elected officers that meet on the first Wednesday of each month which every resident is a member and can attend to give input on what activities they are interested in participating We have a dinner in December that is celebrated by all and the Association bears the cost The buildings were constructed and financed by investors who had a vision of people retiring and enjoying their retirement with reduced income at a comfortable and affordable with amenities And lastly we have an outdoor area with a grill lawn chairs and some of our neighbors have taken to gardening growing various types of vegetables and plants To exercise we have a track situated between the two buildings that you can walk around at your leisure Some have even taken to feeding the birds and supplying them with bird feeders and a water bath I forgot to mention that on the second floor we have a sitting area and an open outside deck to enjoy a table with an umbrella and of course chairs to relax in The top is open air for you to relax in the sun We also have ample parking space and its a smoke free environment That said I trust you enjoyed my lengthy synopsis of the Derstine Run Community managed by the Advanced Living Community organization I was the past president of the Association for two years and were continually looking for ways to improve our relationship in our home We are familymore ...hide ...
