That was justWhen I moved into Aventura Harbor Apt, I was excited about the features and community, but my enthusiasm soon ended after living there for a month. I started to detect an odd smell in my apartment that others remarked smelled like mold. That was just the start. I then spotted mold on different objects in my kitchen and closet. I reported this to the complex and they sent a maintenance person who pretended it was just dirt and painted over the moldy spots I had pointed out. When I kept insisting that they take action, they did another inspection, again claiming it was dirt and blamed the humidity of Florida. I have lived in Florida all my life, so this explanation was insulting. They said they would clean the vents, though the email they sent for maintenance approval stated they were doing mold treatment. This was the first time they acknowledged the problem. The maintenance crew just showed up with more paint and tried to persuade me that it was dirt. I asked them several times to either allow me to break my lease or to hire my own inspector to make sure the environment was livable, but the complex refused. I am now being forced to either pay two months' rent to leave or to live in these conditions. I am posting this to stop other people from going through what I have. These conditions are not suitable for living and Aventura Harbour needs to accept responsibility and CORRECTLY solve the problem.more ...hide ...
