Im a new resident in this community Coming From another SLF in Gurnee I find the first few weeks at a Deerpath of Huntley to be somewhat unsettling After suffering a massive brain stroke and hemorrhage in1997 Ive spent hundreds almost thousands of ho Im a new resident in this community Coming From another SLF in Gurnee I find the first few weeks at a Deerpath of Huntley to be somewhat unsettling After suffering a massive brain stroke and hemorrhage in1997 Ive spent hundreds almost thousands of hours in heavy therapy to learn to walk talkand chew The staff at Deerpath is mostly friendly and usually helpful the food here is horrible And there are a few very good CNAS That are here to help this is Not assisted living its supportive living so its very independent and like any SLF some CNAs dont want to assist in any way I always do what I know is safe for me Even when someone with zero training in physical therapy tries to get me to do something different than Ive been trained to and know Im safe and likely not going to fall more ... hide ...

I was invited for one of their events it was a 70s disco party and it was an amazing night There was a band that treated the place like it was an arena the residents and friends were dressed up and everyone had a great time I was truly impressed I was invited for one of their events it was a 70s disco party and it was an amazing night There was a band that treated the place like it was an arena the residents and friends were dressed up and everyone had a great time I was truly impressed by Steve who hosted the incredible night he was getting pictures of everyone dancing and making sure every single person there had the time of their life Huge kudos to everyone that works there I was welcomed as I walked through the door and treated with respect all night long The residents were upbeat and had me dancing til my feet hurt I cant wait till their next event Ill be there more ... hide ...
