You will not find a better price for the location (so close to Michigan Ave, the city center, Navy Pier, the lake, etc.). My one bedroom is not extravagantly modernized, but it's in good condition and has lots of closet space. In addition to the lake view. The full-time entrance attendants are very friendly and pleasant, and maintenance has always responded quickly to all of my past requests (generally within a day). I have had an excellent experience with management. Simona is very professional and always ready to help promptly in whatever way she can. She is a delight to work with. I have noticed people in the building recognize her and admire her kindness. In response to other reviews here, I should note that because I have a 9-5 job Monday through Friday, I am not influenced by the remodeling of the units or the water shut off mentioned in other reviews. Outside of those hours, it has been quite peaceful. Someone mentioned the elevator doors occasionally open with no elevator present, yet that has never occurred to me. The laundry in the basement does the job, although I did experience a broken dryer once and lost money from it. In conclusion, if you are not particularly difficult to please, this is an excellent place and I would be happy to recommend it to my friends. more ... hide ...

I'm a student at Northwestern University and I figured the Lake Shore plaza would be a great place to stay considering how close it is to the school. I cannot wait to move out. I cannot wait to move out. There are numerous cons to living here, with the most prominent ones being, first, the laundry room is a nightmare to use. The machines are always broken and the dryers take a lot of time to dry even a small load. One morning my partner noticed smoke coming from one of the washers. This place doesn't give you the impression of being clean. Second, the tenants aren't courteous to their neighbors. The hallways are always in a state of disarray and full of stuff from other people. People and their pets are often being loud and noisy in the corridors. This makes it a terrible atmosphere for students who spend long hours studying or people who work from home. Lastly, the second hand smoke is unbearable. The hallways, stairwells and even my own apartment smell like cigarettes all the time due to people who smoke. The management is inefficient and doesn't take complaints seriously, only issuing "stop smoking" leaflets occasionally when someone reports it. It has gotten to the point that I sometimes feel sick in my own apartment. I advise any incoming medical/law students to avoid this place unless you don't plan on spending much time at home. more ... hide ...
