The formerly cordial staff became overly impolite to her; there were frequent punishments for the slightest, hitherto unknown, transgressions. As you can imagine, this kind of treatment was very disconcerting to her. Our mother's (and ours) goal of moving there was for her to spend her remaining years in harmony and serenity surrounded by people of her age. We hated for her to move, it is traumatic for a person of her age to have to pack everything up and find a new home-even if it's with relatives.
