Rent (typically about $600-700) covers utilities, access to a library, transport to grocery stores and retailers, food bank donations, and other benefits - plus, on top of all that, one can often enjoy sweeping views of Raleigh. Furthermore, it is within walking distance of a couple of supermarkets, a pharmacy, movie theaters, banks, and a multitude of eateries and shops. If you or your family have spent their years dedicating themselves to others and not to their savings, and are independent in the majority of respects, you will not find a better place in either Raleigh or Charlotte. The building is quite old and outdated, yet should it be renovated, the rent would be increased, which would not be beneficial to the inhabitants.
