When she passed away, they sent a check for $800 and said the rest of the deposit had gone to the new carpet. Despite the fact that she hired a housekeeper to clean the carpet, they never replaced it in 10 years, but did paint the apartment. This seems unreasonable; after 10 years, the carpet would have had to be changed regardless, but not at the expense of my grandmother. Rebecca Lynn, the Building Manager, was informed, but told us to contact management. Since July, there has been no response from them. It appears that they are taking advantage of the elderly and the family should not have to take this to court. We would like to caution others not to trust Ewing Independent Living and to shop around before deciding on this place for their loved ones. more ... hide ...
