Over the past 12 years at my current residence there have been three management companies The sole reason for my departure is the current management by FirstKey Homes Their maintenance is either delayed or neglected failing to meet necessary renovation standards Previously both minor and major repairs were promptly addressed by the first two management companies However under the new management even significant issues like a visibly damaged roof which they merely patched instead of properly repairing remain unresolved They opt for quick costeffective fixes over thorough safe solutions My credit score has remained good for years with no recent changes except for a background check on a house I applied for where I was the first and only applicant The property could not be reserved for me even though I was the first to apply Despite this the house was given to another who made a deposit even though I was told to wait 48 hours for the other applicant to sign the lease My inability to place a deposit was solely due to my status as a Section 8 voucher holder According to the property manager Section 8 voucher holders are not permitted to make any deposits until the housing authority has completed the house inspection Its perplexing why one must pay an application fee for each property without knowing if they will secure the house It seems more equitable to pay the fee only upon securing the house
