My poor rating of Palos Senior Living is not critical of the staff or the facilities, which are excellent. However, the policies of their corporation, Spectrum, and the communitys director not to listen to reason, is for all current and future residents considering Palos Senior Living to be very cautious in their determination where to live. You must be fully aware of Spectrums policies and how they could affect your long term care. This is especially important in determining whether you are qualified for Assisted Living or Memory Care. This should be of utmost importance once you are already a resident of the community, and subject to Spectrums policies for the next phase of your care. They do not accept outside professional opinion such as medical professionals, specialists, or government agencies such as the VA regarding your loved ones care. more ... hide ...

What a crazy 20 months! We toured Victory Centre of Riverwoods with mom and dad pre-Covid (along with three other facilities) and then quickly moved mom and dad in April 2020 (when I was 8 months pregnant with our firs t and the HEIGHT of Covid).The ENTIRE team: Dorothy, Barb, Nancy, Mercedes, Jenny, Shannon, aides, maintenance¦ is absolutely amazing. They are selfless, caring, and truly care about their residents and their family members. One of the facilities I visited told me they thought my parents would be best suited for Victory Centre because the rooms are larger and they would get more hands on care as its a smaller facility (so true!). They said Barb is the best and has been with VC for over 8-9 years. Honestly, my parents didnt need the pool/gym/amenities. They needed staff that knew their names and what they needed.Mom passed in July 2020, 4 weeks after my sons birth, 3 months after they moved in and the team were absolutely caring and kind during that difficult time to help Dad not only transition to his new home, during a pandemic, but also keep an extra eye on him and show compassion when we lost mom.Im a healthcare administrator and I know how hard this team is working and doing their best to keep my dad safe.I cant say everything has been perfect however once I bring up something, its addressed ASAP. Currently all businesses are short staffed dont just assume family are not to be involved so being an advocate for your loved one helps and should be expected.If youre considering VC of Riverwoods for your loved one(s), I highly recommend them without reservation.Please show the team kindness and give them the thanks they deserve! more ... hide ...
