The Cornerstone SJ.. a start-up church located at the heart of Silicon Valley, currently on the East Side San Jose at Independence High School. They used to be at a smaller location at another San Jose school for a season, but now currently placed at a much larger high school in San Jose.The school has a large parking lot located on Jackson Ave and finding parking is never an issue (unless another school event takes place at the same time).. there is ample parking.From the moment you drive in the parking lot, there are signs placed with the Church logo and arrows pointing to the location of the church. They are currently located at the Student Center, which is located behind the Administration building and next to Frank Fiscalini Swimming Center. The building itself looks like a more modern-type, clean, organized and spacious building for this start-up church.When you walk in, there is a Welcome table on your right, where there are volunteer greeters with happy and smiley faces. Usually its a very bubbly young lady that greets you every Sunday morning. Her charisma and personality is very contagious! She also makes you fill out a Connect card if youre a first time guest. Also at the Welcome table, theres a pile of bibles (yours to keep for free), tithe envelopes, vast amount of pens, resources to help you with your walk with God, a prayer box to drop in your prayer requests (this is so awesome), and of course hand sanitizer & box of tissues! Anything you need, the Welcome table got it, lol!Next to the welcome table, there is also a Fellowship Corner for drinks and refreshments before and after the service. Very neat & thoughtful for guests!Have any young kids? No problem, the Cornerstones got you! They have a Sunday School childrens program called Kids Corner, which is run by an experienced Childrens Director and volunteers. The Cornerstone sincerely cares about your childs safety, so you are required to sign in/out your child prior to dropping them off and picking them up. There is a Kids Corner booth located next to the welcome table. This is a well-organized program, they even have an area, right by the Media booth, designated for the children to participate during the worship service. Its very neat!And now down to nitty gritty... the main Pastor of this is church is a young humble guy in his early 40s who grew up in San Jose. His name is Pastor Paul. His teaching is powerful, relatable and practical for everyday life. It is Spirit-filled, anointed & Biblical in every way... and not to mention, hes multi-talented, also leads worship prior to going up there with his message. Want a message that isnt all tickle-me Elmo, but a message that speaks truth and address Biblical concepts.. go to this church.Worship is also another aspect that is great.. its a whole notha level!! It consists of a young group of guys, but the worship is always ¥¥! Sometimes I find myself so lost in deep worship because its that good!!The community of this congregation is phenomenal. Their love for one another is genuine. Everyone is so welcoming.. it feels like a family.After three years of attending Cornerstone consistently every Sunday and volunteering and serving in this ministry, I can fully say that Ive grown in my walk with God tremendously. I wasnt the same person who I was 3 years ago. I found healing, restoration, and peace in this congregation/community. There arent a lot of things in my life that I know are certain, but I know Ive found it here being in the Cornerstone Community- Ive found a place where I belong.. and anyone who comes here is welcomed to this family of faith!
