The apartment is \"cute\", and I can live with the inside. I had a handicap ramp, (in disrepair) when I left for my doctors appointment and discussed this with my doctor. I took pictures with my cell phone so the dr. could see what I was talking about. They provided me with a letter asking to replace or repair the ramp. When I returned home, the maintenance guy was tearing it down and I was told it would take 6 months or longer to get a new one. I dont have 6 months to risk having to use narrow steps attached to a slab that is not level. They left a mud pit where standing water just sits and I slipped in the mud, twisting and distorting my body! Its very dangerous, a magnet for flies and for mosquitoes. I can not walk without use of my 4 wheeled walker and trying to get up these steps at either entrance is a very difficult, scary experience for me. The detailed letter from my dr. is not good enough for them! The paperwork for \"reasonable modifications\" has to be submitted, then approved by someone, then contractors contacted then bids submitted, and hope they get approved - then wait for the installation. This place advertises its handicap accessible and friendly. They said I knew the ramp was being torn down - but they (office ppl) also knew I NEEDED a ramp. I had a very difficult time getting in and out of the office to sign the lease, but they did not have any problem taking my money. There are other things that should have been done. The old ramp they tore down could have been REPAIRED. Because it was wood, TR is trying to replace them with metal, but at whose expenses? Im having surgery in a few weeks and I have to have a ramp when I come home. I can only pray that God sees the genuine need and works some kind of miracle. The other thing that should have been considered was a different apartment (and they have plenty) that has a functional ramp.... I am waiting for a return call from the lawyer with \"Disability Rights of Ohio\" (DRO) to see what options I may have. I should not have to worry about something like this. I specifically told them on my application and over the telephone that I need a ramp. The office mngr met with me twice and could SEE that I have a difficult time walking. Yes, it is also on my application! They sure didnt hesitate to take my money.I also have a \"Ride Along\" which allows me to move more freely around but absolutely can not use it here. Both entrances have very narrow steps and the top slab to the entrance I was told to use is lopsided. When I asked for some kind of railing, I was told that because it is only 2 steps up, its not required by HUD!What about requirement for safety reasons.Another thing: the toilet has backed-up and overflowed twice within 2 weeks of living here. The second time they run a 6ft snake down it, I was told that if that didnt fix it, they would have to order a new toilet! It seems to me that if the blockage is beyond the 6ft, you get a longer snake not a new toilet. I dont flush toilet paper anymore. Fingers crossed it keeps working.....more ...hide ...

Cant find manager in office half the time, doesnt return calls, maintenance knows very little & smells of alcohol. Have had good managers but they dont keep them. I believe its because theyve had their hearts in it to make a difference & for some strange reason GMA are either afraid of improvement or afraid of losing their funding or some other ridiculous reason(s). If you have/want a poverty mindset then you Will be ok or like. If you want to do better then you wont. Youll be caught up in the poverty mindset as a lot if not everyone living there.more ...hide ...
