My family was the third family to move into these apartments back in 1971, I believe it was. They were called model cities programapartments back then. I guess theyre called section 8 these days. They were considered the modern and up-to-date welfare housing. I drove through there in the early 80s and it was pretty much a slum.The photos in this looks pretty nice. Montopolis was considered a pretty dangerous place to live back then, but I would walk up to a place called the boomerang which was at the corner of Montopolis and Fairway Drive and we get burgers and hang out and play pool. Never had any trouble for this white girl. I have good memories from back then and met a lot of groovy people. I wonder what its like today. more ... hide ...

This place/organization (Accessible Space) is wonderful. It is for both elderly and disabled. It has roll in showers!!! Lowered cabinets, appliances, grab bars, well maintained, controlled access, safe...my goodness the only reason its not 5 star is because there is no staff to assist the residents. They could sure use it. Attendant service hard to get here in Austin, and its a shame because this place and the organization, make living independently within the community possible. LTC assistance is not easy to secure in Texas, not important to politicians when funding is allotted resulting in low pay for workers and shortages. Agencies come and go, and do as they choose with little oversight. This place is well maintained and the neighbors watch out and help each other. A rare find for the and elderly and disabled in Austin. Family member has lived there for over 15 years. more ... hide ...

I have tried applying to Trove eastside in November and it has been nothing but a cycle of nonsense. This is an income housing apartment complex and I made under the annual income limit, and they asked for outrageous & e xcessive requests. Why would any apartment complex ask for 6 months of bank statements one week, then a week later ask for VENMO & ZELLE statements. That is where I drew the line and respectfully told them this is a poorly run apartment complex. Which is honestly an invasion of my privacy. This was all after my background check, which was spot clean. I would advise looking else where, unless you enjoy having your privacy invaded. more ... hide ...
