Additionally, the security deposit is non-refundable but lower than a standard 1.5x security deposit. In the event that you cannot pay rent, the complex manager said that they can file a claim to cover (or partially cover) the rent for the month, though this is likely to be a one time only thing. Although I am not pleased about the 20% rent increase, it is in line with the average rent price for the area, so I have no real complaints. Mario, the complex manager, was very understanding and willing to do whatever he could to help me out. Ultimately, corporate makes the final decisions, but Mario was still willing to go out of his way to help. I'm thankful that I'm still able to stay in this area, and it would not have been possible without Mario's help.
