just moved in and its very quiet and nice and very much like i expected from a senior living facility. only a slight flaw and its actually my friends apartment not mine however my experience because i called. i was told that the maintenance man is new but i called him on a sunday and told him that my friends faucet in her kitchen had broken and the water was running full force into the kitchen sink. granted it was not running onto the floor and so maybe this is not considered an emergency, im new and wasnt sure, but im thinking for a work order to be made out and to wait a day or so may not be a good idea. i didnt know i just went by my gut instinct so i called. the m/man told me he was moving and he uttered a less than happy response but said he would be here in about half an hour or so. i feel bad but dont regret calling. like i said im new and not for sure what is considered a real emergency. other than this i love it here! i would highly recommend this place to any senior that is looking for quiet living but with plenty of friendly people to talk to and there are always things to do. and the place is lovely inside and out. i just moved in but i can honestly say i am very happy here. (maybe the maintenance man is having a bad day and weve all had those.) more ... hide ...

They say this place has been servicing the elderly and disabled since 1961 If Im not mistaken, I also believe that there has not been one change to this building since then either. My mother was a patient in this place u nfortunately many times against her will, due to her care taker it was horrible for her. Unfortunately that someone else had power over her medical and life. She was abused Mistreated and uncared for, cried to go home daily. Well Its to late for her now shes passed on.. this so called nursing Home facilityplace is not equipped for taking care of the sick just housing them. There is no medical service given just meds given out when they feel like it. They have no clue how to care for people.. Im saying please dont send your family member to this place, its unclean smell like human waste, the food is looks like garbage taste just as bad and they make them sleep on hard Cots for beds. Theyre elderly sick and old. Think about how you feel if it was you how would like it, alone scared abused and hungry. The very one that put my mom in there now is in there themselves praying and crying but now understanding how she felt. more ... hide ...

If your loved one is deaf and you are thinking this is the perfect place for them you are wrong. Do not send them there if they rely primarily on sign language. Most of the staff I encountered did not know sign. When you call there and are on hold the recording says \"all staff are trained in american sign language\" this is not true. Columbus Colony is managed by an outside company now. Ohio School for the Deaf board is involved but not like it used to be. The best part of Columbus Colony for a deaf person is the deaf community there definitly not the care. The deaf social worker, the interprerers and the 1kitchen staff person are the greatest assest to this facility. The care is not good. Nursing staff are foreign with thick accents which makes communication had when you can hear, let alone if you are deaf. My parent had items lost/missing and they kept saying it was his fault. We are not having this problem at his new facility. He is not missing one thing now that there has been a move back to our hometown. I moved him out after 1 month of hell for him and our family. I do not recommend this facility to anyone deaf. more ... hide ...
