Management at the Plaza at Chase Oaks is positively dreadful This is an apartment complex for individuals 55 and up However Id wager a majority of them are at least 65 which makes the way management has treated the residents there during this 2021 wi Management at the Plaza at Chase Oaks is positively dreadful This is an apartment complex for individuals 55 and up However Id wager a majority of them are at least 65 which makes the way management has treated the residents there during this 2021 winter storm all the more appallingnnResidents and families trying to help them escape the freezing temperatures during the mass power outages encountered blackedout stairwells and corridors This is a violation of city code and lighting should have been powered by backup generators It was pitch black for at least 24 hours Mind you this is a statecontrolled facility for what is mostly senior citizens with often some degree of limited mobility Navigating during the blackedout stairways was challenging for people with full mobility and a hazard for those with lessnnThere was no communication from management with residents during the first few days of subfreezing temperatures with no heat There was not the feeblest effort at organizing welfare checks There was zero attempt to clear or deice the pavement or approach of a single entranceexit of the building until the fifth day of the freeze These precautions are among the most common acts of human decency in the interest of the welfare and safety of the more vulnerable in our societynnManagement not only didnt act or initiate communication but they also didnt return resident phone calls Pipes burst corridors were blocked building alarms were sounding constantly and still management neither communicated nor returned phone calls Code that hallway doorways remain unobstructed were ignored and doors left closed My mother tried but was unable to figure out how to keep her doors in her corridor open Thus hers and many others remained closed and as a result mobility further impedednnWhen management finally communicated on the fifth day of the storm there was not the weakest expression of concern for the welfare of the community it served No assurances of what management is doing to alleviate the existing burst pipes flooding blocked corridors and hazardous conditions of walkways between the buildings and the parking area were provided Management made sure to direct residents of where theyd find a list of city warming stations if they find themselves in need of heat while mindless of the limited means many seniors would have in reaching the remote resources that management so kindly recommendednnMy mother has lived there over ten years and the complex was originally quite nice She and the rest of the family felt blessed shed found it However management changes have meant quality of life there has progressively deteriorated to the point that the complex has fallen into a most appalling statennIt is shameful unconscionable and management and the complex deserve to be reported to the city and fully reprimanded If you or your loved one is looking for a home I would urge you to look elsewhere more ... hide ...
