I had recently received a collection notice, a full year after I had completed a 6-month lease for $2000. During the time since, there were no calls or invoices sent to my phone or address. When I visited the office to inquire about it, the manager said she couldn't give me an invoice and that they hadn't tried to contact me at all. She mentioned that they sent a notice to the apartment - which was being rented out at this point - where they had stored the keys for my mailbox and apartment. I called collections in hopes of finding out more information, however all they provided was an amount with no explanation as to what it was for. A month later, I called the office again just to ensure that my deposit would be returned within sixty days of finishing my lease and if they had my address on file; she confirmed both things. Unfortunately, today is when I've heard from them again ever since then. If possible, I wouldn't give any stars as this place is incredibly unprofessional: lies are told, tenants are falsely accused by collection agencies due to lack of ability/concern in resolving issues correctly, plus their fake apologies when customers write negative reviews only add salt onto injury! So please avoid Walnut Creek Apartments; not only will you be lied and cheated by them but your money may even get stolen! I'm sorry to leave a poor review but I should have looked into this place more before signing the lease. Judging by all the negative reviews, it's obvious why people aren't happy here; they practice shady business tactics. When I did my walkthrough prior to moving in, the fireplace was broken and Brenda (the leasing agent) was very insistent that I not include it on the inspection report and promised it would be fixed that day. Here we are two months later and now I'm being told it will take another month. Hopefully, when June comes around with its cold days, I will have a working fireplace! On top of all this, there's an ever-present smell of cigarettes throughout the complex. The maintenance team is nice though; great people! You can get same/better quality for cheaper somewhere else where they actually want to help you instead of just responding with "come to our office so we can talk about how we can give you the best service" jargon as soon as you complain about something. With increasing rent, we looked for better options at cheaper prices elsewhere. To top things off, there was also a lack of parking as well as street racers who'd speed down Dover and drift around 104th corner. Ninety percent of the residents here have had their property, cars, and windows damaged by vandalism. There are no security cameras or lights and the office is not willing to install them even after all the stolen cars and destruction.
