At the beginning, this was not a terrible place to live; however, over time it deteriorated. The office staff seemed to be indolent, as if they did not want to fulfill their duties. Four days later, I noticed that our check had not been cashed, so I called the office and was told that it had been cashed and not to worry. Two weeks after that, I received a letter on my door saying that the check had been returned and that I had been charged late fees without any understanding from the staff. There was no cause for the check to be sent back; the money was there in the account. It seemed that the staff was looking for someone to blame, and they placed the blame on the bank. People who don't even live here often park here, and parking is already limited. Moreover, there are always nefarious people hanging around the building. When you call the security number provided, they are unhelpful, telling you to call CSP and acting as if it is not their problem. The rent is not as affordable as they claim it to be for "low income" earners; it is still more than worth of the apartment. You can frequently smell mold, and no amount of cleaning helps. I love, love, love, love our apartment. This is the best apartment complex I have ever lived in. Our apartment is spacious and well priced. The property is cleaned and well taken care of. Parking can be tight but I have a big car. I love our little place in the middle of a glen. It€™s like a little haven in the middle of the city. Here€™s the thing, every complex has problems from water heater to doors not working they all have them. But it€™s how they handle them and how often they happen that make the difference. We€™ve always been given tons of notice when water was going to be turned off or if anything needed to happen for repairs. Due to a military PCS I moved out 8 months later. My deposit was 600 for this apartment and 300 was taken from that deposit after move out for carpet cleaning, cleaning, and paint touch up when the apartment and the carpet was already dirty and smelled like cigarettes upon move in. Management completely disregarded to compare the move in inspection checklist upon move out and carelessly charged for cleaning of the carpet and apartment when it wasn€™t even cleaned upon move in. Upon move out the apartment was cleaned and left in better conditions than when I moved in. Would not recommend these apartments, management is absolutely garbage and are just looking to make a extra dollar off of their residents.more ...hide ...

My neighbors were always loud, maintenance never addressed issues, there was a lot of litter and pet waste on the grounds, and police were routinely summoned. It was never safe to take my dogs out after dark. During the winter, my apartment was always cold because the windows were not sealed or insulated. Snow would get into the apartment, and maintenance never came to fix it. The management is incredibly unprofessional; the current manager doesn't seem to care about the tenants. The last straw was when I moved out and they charged me for normal wear and tear, which they were supposed to repair but never did. I would never suggest anyone live at Berkshire apartments; I'm so glad I moved to a new place!more ...hide ...
