Well .. I have been here since 2014. There has been 4 managers in my 8 years of residency. Mr Bennie Warren was the Best of the Best.He listened to his tenants problems, complaints and concerns. He absolutely loved his r esidents and gave and did all he could to make our Apts a happy home. Not to mention all the love He gave to the children of Candle Chase. He made sure they were made to feel loved safe and at home with daily activities, monthly Birthday Parties, after school snacks, games and rewards that made them feel special. He also made the Seniors feel honored with a special kind of support and safety. He wanted to make Candle Chase a one of a kind family friendly and safe place to call home. I have never known an Apt Mgr to be so dedicated, loving and professionally inclined. He definitely could not be replaced and will truly be missed.My rating was not reflected on Management. I give the 3s because the Ownership is very poorly. Every Apt complex in this Prestigious area has had some kind of UPGRADES!! CANDLE CHASE IS DESPERATELY IN NEED OF A FACE- LIFT. If I were one of these home- owners I would absolutely get a petition going because these homes are tooo beautiful for Candle Chase to be so trashed out!!DO SOMETHING ABOUT THEM ..BESIDES RAISE THE RENTCOME ON CITYGATE!!!YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THIS! more ... hide ...

I have been a resident since 2013 & although weve had different assistants Brenda has always been at the helm. I have found her to be both fair & to adhere to the rules. She will listen to all complaints & will tell you straight up what she can (& cant) do.Every Christmas, she buys gifts for the residents; we get a ticket to be put in a box, to be drawn throughout the luncheon to win said gifts. We had an Elvis impersonator; & someone to play Xmas songs on the piano. The food is always delicious & plentiful.. Bottom line, she cares.I also can say that Tammy is a great addition. For ten years Samaritan House has been a part of my world -- up until March 3, 2022, when I confronted the illegal backdating of my lease. It was then that leasing engaged in retaliatory methods to push me out. Leasing has used fear and intimidation tactics on a number of past and present clients such as: you cant recert if you fight or invoke your rights. You cant reapply if you fight eviction. All against Fair Housing and program policies and procedures. Leasing voided my lease and then gave me a 30 day Notice to Vacate thinking their office is above the law. Title 24 CFR Regulation is attached to any subsidized housing program; yet, leasing did not care about the mission nor ethical practices. If your lease was backdated, contact Texas Attorney General. They have the authority to investigate nonprofit organizations who operate schemes as this one. Tay, from Resident Services made it possible for me to relocate into a much better living environment, ensuring my program was not violated. more ... hide ...
